Hello and welcome to my site. My name is Marti Newkirk and I have enjoyed photography as a hobby since I was a teenager in Journalism class. We each had the privilege of using the class 35mm for one week to shoot a roll of film to capture our friends and events for the newsletter and yearbook. I’ve been hooked ever since!
Once my girls were all grown up and out on their own, I finally had time to explore it further and take my hobby to the next level. I love learning the effects of varying lights and how a slight change of angle can totally alter the feel of a photo. I enjoy taking classes to learn more and get new ideas. As an active organizer for The Lakeland Shooters, I also spend some time with budding photographers and hobbyists playing and learning from each other. And I thank goodness everyday for the internet and all of the knowledge that is just a mouse click away.
My hobby has become a small business in the last few years. I’ve also joined the professional trade associations and studied with some of the most talented photographers in the industry. In the fall of 2012, I successfully completed the required testing and image inspections to become a Certified Professional Photographer – one of five in Polk County at the moment – woohoo!! Here’s a link to help describe what the designation means: http://www.ppa.com/findaphotographer/cpp.php
This website is designed to answer many of your questions, however I would love to talk with you about your photography needs. If you have questions, I’m only a phone call or email away.
